3 1/2 weeks Post Op

Alrighty then...today is three and half weeks since I had my surgery. Not much has changed since last week, numbness is still about the same. Improving but slowly. Chewing is still annoying...that hasn't changed and it doesn't seem to be getting much better. I'm sure it is just slow like the rest of this journey.

As you can see my tan is quickly fading..so sad :( That is about the only thing that has really changed this week!

I see the ortho on Tuesday for x-rays and hopefully a debracing date. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but must say that I really really want these babies off now! What is frustrating is that as much as I want them off, and things look good, they still do not look as perfect to me as I wish they were. Can that be fixed? I suppose only the ortho can answer this question. I'm going to ask him this on Tuesday. Also if we can speed things along and fast track me to getting them removed. No more of this 8 weeks between visits, I want them OFF, like yesterday, BUT! I want my teeth to be perfect too! Anyway...for the most part things look pretty good, nothing a power chain probably can't fix.

You look so incredible, from my point of view it feels like you're months post-op not 3.5 weeks! That's probably due to your frequent updates and your recovery. I hope you get your wish and have your braces removed soon. Then you can join the ortho-alumni, the retainer crew.

    Hi Brandy!
I have been following your story for over a year and I finally just wanted to say how fantastic you look! I live in Sydney, Australia and had SARPE last year and I am due to have jaw surgery about December. Reading your entries and all about your up's and down's has really been inspirational. I only hope my surgery goes as well as yours and the results are just as impressive. You have been patient for this long, hang in there for the last few months! I wish you all the very best!

    Hi Brandy,
I know you want the braces off badly, but just remember that you've come so far, you want to get that perfect smile! The xrays will tell if the roots are ok and your teeth have settled enough that they won't shift for removal. Braces or not, you are a beautiful lady and need not worry about them at all :)

I kept thinking about it as a way to assure that I would never have to go through surgery again. If I followed the rules then my teeth are going to stay so nice and straight, my bite wouldn't shift and reopen. It's nice to be envied now for having such beautiful straight teeth. I don't want to go back to what I had before.

I know you did this to correct your sleep apnea, so it wasn't a matter of straight teeth so much, but it's a great after effect isn't it! Hang in there Brandy and know that date will come so soon!!!

    take care, Amy
