6 Months Post SARPE...
Well today is my official 6 months post SARPe anniversary so I thought I would post a quick update of my journey. Things are pretty much back to normal at this point. I still have a slight bit of numbness (and I do mean ever so slight) in my front left incisors. I think, however, that this would be back to normal if I hadn't developed some sort of infection in my gums or tooth (we are not sure exactly what caused it just yet, or where it developed from.) What I can tell you is that since being on antibiotics for four days now things feel like they are getting much better in that front area. Better then they have felt in over a month. I suspect that within the next few days things will have returned to their pre surgery state. I have an appt on the 13th for an endo consult, to see if I might have a infection in one of my teeth, and an ortho appt on the 14th for an adjustment and further follow up.
All in all the results have been amazing (see lots of pics below) and I can honestly say that I'm very happy I decided to have this surgery done. No regrets!
I will continue to follow my braces progress, and then blog my full jaw surgery next year. Hopefully with a video this time of the whole procedure. I have to talk with my doctor about it, but that is my current plan at the moment. I want to be able to see and hear everything that is done to me while I'm asleep!

It really does look like you don't even need more surgery, wow. And hopefully your endo appointment goes well. The whole "tooth might be dying" line gave me a heart attack! I would freak if my OD said it in that manner to me. Amazing how we have ODs, OSs, and endo doctors who treat the inside of the mouth but are so different. You'd think there would just be one kind of specialist eh?

Hey Graham,
I will be interested to see what the endo says. I'm pretty much convinced that it was a sinus infection gone awry or complications related to the SARPE. Since I have been taking the antibiotics my healing issues have practically disappeared. No more numbness, things feel almost 100%. The best they have felt in over a month. That tooth feels fine and is no longer hurting at all now either. The line about my tooth maybe dying is not that frightening to me. I mean worst case scenario is that it needs a root canal. I have had a ton of them so one more is really not that big of a deal. Especially compared to all that I have had done and will be having.
My bite is feeling really good, and I an actually chew pretty well now which is very cool. I know I'm thrusting my jaw forward to make the fit, but honestly I don't really notice it that much. I will be interested to hear what my ortho has to say about all this infection stuff though when I go in next week.

Owie, your tooth! Glad you're feeling better, though. It is scary. I hope the endodontist finds nothing expensive!!
