Hawaii for Christmas! There is a GOD!

OMG, I love this place. Ok....so I have been to many of the Hawaiian islands, and I love it everytime I come. This time we chose Maui. We are staying in Kihei, but have been checking out the whole island. We plan to go snorkeling, scuba diving, riding some zip lines, and on a whale watching tour in the next few days. The weather has been awesome! In the 80's everyday with no rain, and its just so pretty here. We are really enjoying the trip with no kids....its so nice to not hear the "I'm bored" every 5 minutes, or to be on a time schedule. We have been drinking lots of Pina Colada's and other fancy umbrella drinks, and mostly just hitting the beach, or poolside to hang out and relax.

We are getting pretty tan, and plan to be even darker by next week. Can you tell??? LOL....

Mele Kalikimaka Everyone! (thats Merry Xmas in Hawaiian)

I had my teeth adjusted right before we left. I have a bit of a pokey archwire but nothing that is bugging me too bad, and truthfully I haven't even been thinking about my teeth so that is a plus. Here are the changes that have taken place since my last adjustment. The first pic is 12/15/06 the next one is 01/03/06

I Love Powerchains! Sortof......

Ok, so I had another adjustment today, not exactly sure what number it was just that it was another one. I had planned on taking these really good pics I took into my ortho and talking to him about my rotated canine etc. Well I decided to not do that and see what he was going to do today. It was actually good that I didn't as the placed was packed and he didn't really have time to chat with me about much of anything. I did ask if my canine was ever going to rotate. He said it would eventually, and I thought he was going to do something to it to make it happen but then he didn't. He said my teeth look like they are lining up very nicely. So, he had the assistant put a 17 copper niti wire (which is up one size from my last ones) and gold powerchains on both my uppers and lowers. (See my new smile) I was glad to finally have powerchains on the bottom and top instead of just either or. My lowers developed that nice space between the two front teeth again, this past adjustment, as my ortho was trying to rotate my lower canine and had a powerchain on only a few of them so it yanked them apart again. I can already feel the new wire and powerchain closing the space so hopefully in another few day I will be gap free again.

It is always amazing how quickly my teeth move, and how something as simple as a little powerchain can make such a huge difference. Already my teeth feel like they have shifted and my bite now feels even better than it did previously (and lately it has been feeling pretty good.) So that is pretty cool. (This is a picture taken today of my upper arch. My left canine needs to rotate a bit more, but things are definitely coming along. My lowers are looking ok, but if you look closely you can see the big gap between my incisors that we are trying to close again.)

Next vist (January 31st) I have to have impressions again! UGHHH!...impressions with braces suck! My ortho says my OS will want to see the models when I go for my pre-op scheduling exam. So, hopefully if all continues to go well I will be scheduling an appointment with my OS about the first week of February and hopefully scheduling my May lower jaw surgery. :) yeah!

One more day til I go to Hawaii! Can't wait!

I will post new updated pics tonight.

Continued Progress

So its been almost a month since I have posted. Last time I was getting a sinus infection cleared up. Well....I spent 24 days on Biaxin and no longer have a sinus infection. The the yucky taste in my tooth is gone as is the burning sensation I was having in my front teeth. The doctor says my sinuses look wonderful now, and that he could not see if there was any kind of perferation in my sinuses because my braces made very bad reflections on the CT scan. Either way I'm feeling 100% better and he says we are just going to have to stay on top of it and see what happens. He says it could've just been a resistant sinus infection that got stronger when I used the antibiotics last time for only 14 days. HE said because of the location of the sinuses that it is hard to get the medicine where it needs to be and that they recommend at least 21 days and sometimes 28 days to totally clear up one. So....at the moment I'm healed! woo hooo!
I still have some very minor numbness behind my left canine, but nothing that is too unmanageable, and it does seem to be improving little by little, so I'm sure at some point it will completely disappear.

I have another adjustment tomorrow. Can't wait as I have great pics to show my ortho. I took a close up of my teeth last adjustment when I had the powerchain on, and then this month when it has been off. I have to say I'm a bit frustrated as several teeth have shifted a lot (they looked much better with the powerchain) and my canine and the tooth behind it still have not moved. My canine is still rotated, so I want him to fix that.

I will post more tomorrow, with updated pics if I can. I'm leaving to Hawaii on Friday for my dh's and I's long awaited honeymoon. I will have the laptop with me though so I can post from the beach if I want. I'm so excited! I really need a vacation!

Anyone else having problems switching over to the new blogger program???
